Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Electrical Project Manager to join our team and oversee projects from initial enquiry through to successful completion and handover.
The Role
We are seeking a technically minded Project Manager with a strong electrical background who understands the practical challenges of delivering electrical infrastructure projects.
Ideally, you will have previously worked as a qualified electrician or electrical engineer before moving into project management, enabling you to effectively manage technical design, installation and commissioning activities.
You will be responsible for managing multiple projects across the UK, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage HV and LV electrical projects from enquiry through to final handover.
· Carry out site surveys and attend pre-construction meetings.
· Prepare technical quotations and project costings.
· Review customer specifications and work closely with design engineers to ensure compliance.
· Coordinate design development and procurement activities.
· Manage subcontractors, suppliers and internal installation teams.
· Oversee HV substations, LV distribution systems, industrial electrical installations and associated civil engineering works.
· Monitor programme, budget and project risks.
· Attend client meetings and provide regular project updates.
· Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
· Manage project documentation throughout delivery.
· Compile Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Manuals, commissioning records and handover documentation.
· Support commercial management including variations, valuations and change control.
· Develop strong, long-term relationships with clients and consultants.
Essential Requirements
· Previous experience as a Project Manager within the electrical contracting industry.
· Qualified Electrician (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) or similar electrical engineering background.
· Strong understanding of industrial electrical installations.
· Experience managing projects from survey through to completion.
· Excellent organisational and communication skills.
· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· Good commercial awareness.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office.
· Full UK Driving Licence.
· Willingness to travel nationwide.
Desirable Experience
· High Voltage (HV) project experience.
· Previous Authorised Person (AP) or Senior Authorised Person (SAP) experience.
· Experience delivering electrical substations.
· Knowledge of HV switchgear, transformers and protection systems.
· Civil engineering and substation construction management.
· Knowledge of BS 7671 and relevant HV standards.
· Experience working with DNOs, IDNOs and private HV networks.
· SMSTS or SSSTS.
· IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH.
