Are you highly organised, detail-focused and ready to build your finance career? We are looking for an Accounts Assistant to provide accurate, timely and confidential support across payroll, purchase ledger, sales ledger, reconciliations and general finance administration. This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys working in a busy environment, takes pride in getting the details right and is keen to learn and develop within a supportive finance team.

Key Responsibilities

In this varied finance role, you will support payroll, ledgers, reconciliations, reporting and day-to-day finance administration, ensuring work is completed accurately, confidentially and within agreed timescales.

Support the monthly payroll process, including starters, leavers, contractual changes, amendments, overtime, expenses, deductions and statutory payments.
Check timesheets and payroll information, resolve queries with managers and support payroll reconciliation before authorisation.
Process supplier invoices, prepare payment runs, reconcile statements and resolve purchase ledger queries.
Raise customer invoices, allocate receipts, monitor debtors and assist with credit control activity.
Complete bank reconciliations, post receipts and payments, reconcile control accounts and investigate discrepancies.
Maintain accurate finance records, support month-end and year-end processes, prepare reports and assist with audit requests.
Maintain confidentiality, follow internal controls, identify process improvements and support wider finance or business projects as required.

What we’re looking for:

A positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
Excellent attention to detail with an analytical approach.
The ability to manage a high workload in a fast-paced environment.
Confidence handling confidential information professionally.

Desirable:

Previous experience supporting payroll processes.
Understanding of HMRC requirements, statutory payments or payroll compliance.
Experience working within finance governance, internal controls or regulated procedures.
AAT study, qualification or commitment to ongoing finance development.
