We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, organised and highly motivated Senior Science Technician to join our successful and thriving Science faculty. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technician to lead and coordinate technical support across Biology, Chemistry and Physics within a busy secondary school environment.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting high-quality teaching and learning, ensuring practical lessons are delivered safely, efficiently and effectively. You will lead a team of science technicians, oversee the day-to-day management of preparation rooms and resources, and provide specialist support to both staff and students, including at A Level.
Key responsibilities will include:

Leading and supervising the Science Technician team

Preparing, setting up and maintaining equipment and materials for practical lessons

Managing stock, ordering equipment and chemicals, and maintaining accurate records

Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, including CLEAPSS guidance

Supporting teachers and students with practical investigations and demonstrations
-
Carrying out laboratory and equipment safety checks and risk assessments
-
Supporting the development of practical resources for all science disciplines

Assisting with departmental administration and organisation
We are looking for someone who:

Has experience working within a laboratory or school science environment

Possesses excellent organisational and communication skills
-
Has strong knowledge of science equipment, chemicals and practical procedures
-
Understands current health and safety requirements within school science
-
Can work independently, prioritise effectively and lead a team confidently

Is committed to supporting young people and promoting high standards
Essential qualifications and experience:
-
GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English, Maths and Science

Previous laboratory experience

Good ICT skills
-
Awareness of health and safety procedures within science environments
Desirable:

Experience working in a school or educational setting

Experience leading or supervising staff

Relevant further or higher education qualification
