Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef/Head Chef to lead our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and a commitment to delivering exceptional food quality and service. This role involves supervising kitchen operations, managing food production, and ensuring adherence to food safety standards. Responsibilities
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth and efficient food preparation and service
- Supervise and mentor kitchen staff, including cooks and junior chefs, fostering teamwork and professional development
- Manage food production processes to maintain quality, consistency, and presentation standards
- Develop and update menus in collaboration with management, incorporating seasonal ingredients and innovative dishes
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and health regulations
- Monitor inventory levels, place orders for supplies, and manage stock control to minimise waste
- Assist in training staff on proper cooking techniques, safety procedures, and customer service standards
- Collaborate with front-of-house teams to ensure seamless service delivery
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment in accordance with health regulations
Qualifications
- Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen setting
- Extensive culinary experience with a strong background in food preparation, cooking, and presentation
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team effectively
- Sound knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
- Experience working in a hospitality or restaurant environment is highly desirable
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure
- Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude towards teamwork
- Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications are preferred but not essential for highly experienced candidates
