Painter, Decorator & Final Finishing Technician – Campervan Conversions
About the Role
Brown Bird and Company specialise in transforming Land Rover Defenders, VW T6s and Mercedes Sprinters into beautifully crafted campervans. We are a design-led, customer-focused campervan conversion business, passionate about creating unique and exceptional experiences on the road through thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail.
We are looking for a skilled Painter, Decorator & Final Finishing Technician to join our workshop team. This role is ideal for someone who takes real pride in producing high-quality finishes and has an eye for detail. You will play a key role in ensuring every vehicle leaves our workshop looking exceptional and finished to the highest standards.

What You'll DoPainting, Decorating & Final Finishing
- Prepare timber, plywood and cabinetry ready for painting and finishing.
- Fill, sand and prepare surfaces to a high standard.
- Paint campervan furniture, cabinetry and interior components.
- Apply protective coatings, stains, oils and finishing products.
- Carry out final finishing, detailing and quality checks throughout each build.
- Ensure all visible surfaces meet our high standards of workmanship and presentation.
- Repair and rectify minor cosmetic defects and imperfections.
- Work with a variety of materials including plywood, hardwoods, laminates and composite materials.
- Assist with upholstery installation, trim fitting and final vehicle presentation where required.
Assembly & Workshop Support
- Assist with installation of furniture, storage units and interior components.
- Fit wall panels, ceiling panels, flooring and trim components.
- Carry out minor joinery and assembly work where required.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, build specifications and production plans.
- Work closely with electrical, upholstery and installation teams.
- Support prototype builds and development of new products and layouts.
Quality Control
- Take ownership of the final appearance and finish of every build.
- Carry out detailed inspections and quality checks throughout the manufacturing process.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and help maintain Brown Bird's reputation for exceptional craftsmanship.
- Ensure all work meets our company standards and customer expectations.
Teamwork & Safety
- Collaborate with our friendly workshop team to deliver projects on time and to a consistently high standard.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
- Safely operate workshop machinery, hand tools and finishing equipment.
- Follow company health and safety procedures at all times.
What We're Looking ForEssential
- Previous experience in painting, decorating, finishing, furniture finishing, vehicle refinishing, coachbuilding, cabinet making or a similar hands-on trade.
- Exceptional attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work.
- Strong sanding, preparation and finishing skills.
- Good practical problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Desirable
- Carpentry or joinery experience.
- Experience within campervan conversions, vehicle conversions, coachbuilding or bespoke manufacturing.
- Experience operating woodworking machinery and workshop equipment.
- Ability to read technical drawings and build specifications.
