Position Summary
As a Chef/Cook at Las Gidi, you help bring our Afro-fusion menu to life. You’ll prepare dishes with consistency, speed, and pride, working closely with the kitchen team to deliver high-quality plates during busy service. This role suits someone who loves flavour, enjoys a lively kitchen, and takes ownership of their craft.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Cooking
- Prepare and cook menu items to Las Gidi standards, maintaining consistency in flavour, portioning, and presentation.
- Support the execution of Afro-fusion dishes, including marinades, sauces, grills, and small plates.
- Follow recipes while also contributing ideas for specials and improvements.
Kitchen Flow & Teamwork
- Work efficiently during high-volume service, communicating clearly with the team.
- Assist with prep lists, stock rotation, and daily mise en place.
- Support other stations when needed to keep service smooth.
Cleanliness & Compliance
- Maintain a clean, organised workstation at all times.
- Follow food safety, allergen, and hygiene procedures in line with UK standards.
- Assist with closing duties, deep cleaning, and equipment care.
Quality & Standards
- Ensure every dish leaving the pass meets Las Gidi’s visual and flavour expectations.
- Minimise waste and handle ingredients with care.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in a professional kitchen (restaurant, hotel, or high-volume environment). Preferrable with preparing African food.
- Strong knife skills and understanding of basic cooking techniques.
- Ability to stay calm and focused during busy periods.
- Interest in African cuisine or willingness to learn.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and late-night service.
