Full job description

Industrial Mechanic

We are looking for an experienced Industrial Mechanic to join our maintenance team.

The role will involve carrying out maintenance, inspections, servicing and repairs on a range of site equipment and vehicles, including JCB and Jungheinrich forklifts, Mercedes vans and Ford vans.

This role would suit someone with a strong mechanical background who is confident working on vehicles, forklifts, plant, agricultural machinery, HGVs or similar equipment. The successful candidate will be practical, reliable and able to work independently across a varied range of equipment.

Main duties

Carry out routine maintenance, servicing and inspections
Diagnose and repair mechanical faults
Work on forklifts, vans and general site equipment
Complete basic hydraulic, electrical and mechanical repairs where competent
Carry out defect repairs following inspections or driver reports
Prepare vehicles and equipment for servicing, inspection or MOT where required
Keep accurate maintenance and repair records
Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop
Report any safety-critical defects or issues
Support occasional weekend overtime when required

Skills and experience

The ideal candidate will have:

Strong mechanical experience
Experience working on vans, forklifts, plant, agricultural machinery, HGVs or similar equipment
Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills
Confidence using workshop tools and equipment
A practical, hands-on approach
Good understanding of safe working practices
Ability to work independently
Full UK driving licence

Experience with JCB, Jungheinrich, Mercedes or Ford vehicles would be beneficial.

Hours

Monday to Friday
8:00am to 5:00pm

Occasional weekend work may be required

Pay

£18.50 per hour

Overtime available.
