Responsible to: Directly accountable to and taking direction from the employer and the employer’s representative (Mum)
Hours: Shift 1: 1 x 6 hour shift per month: Thursday 9.30am – 3.30pm
Shift 2: 1 x 4 hour shift per month: Friday 9.30am – 1.30pm
Ad Hoc: Additional Shifts to cover annual leave / sickness when needed
Hourly Rate of Pay: £14.10 depending on funding provider
Based at: Employer’s own home in Ipswich and out in the local community.
About the job
We are seeking a reliable, active, open minded PA to support an energic 29 year old male living in his own supported living flat in Ipswich. Whilst he has an excellent daily support team, having an ‘outside PA’ gives him to freedom to break away from the rigid flat schedules and enjoy hobbies he loves. The role is less about ‘traditional care’ and much more about enabling independence, community access and having fun.
About him
He is an active wheelchair user with a great sense of fun and distinct taste in entertainment. He is a huge football fan and is also passionate about death metal music and attending live gigs.
Why the job is great: It is a low-hour commitment perfect for supplementing another part time role or studies, offering a chance to make a massive difference in a young guys independence while heading out to sports and music events.
Main duties:
To support with:
- Health monitoring: Providing gentle reminders for hydration and self catheterisation. You will be required to accurately monitor his fluid input and output.
- Activity support: Accompany him and support him during his favourite sports and activites, which include wheelchair tennis, table tennis, and cycling (he rides in a specialised seat in front of a biek pedalled by a designated cyclist – you have the optional opportunity to follow their 40 minutes routine!
- Social Enrichment: Help him out in the community to do the things he loves, ensuring he doesn’t miss out due to internal flat staff shift patterns.
- To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required.
About you (requirements)
- Reliable, punctual and respectful of boundaries and independence.
- Comfortable with basic medical logging (input / output monitoring training / guidance provided)
- Enthusiastic, high energy, and happy to be involved in sports and outdoor activites.
- An open minded attitude (an appreciation for live gigs and heavy music is a massive bonus!)
- Enhanced DBS check (can be processed upon on hire)
