Job Summary:
Peerless Plastics & Coatings Ltd are looking for an experienced and proactive Warehouse Co-ordinator to take ownership of the day-to-day running of our warehouse operation. This is very much a hands-on leadership role – and as such we are looking for someone who leads by example, gets involved on the floor, and simultaneously holds the standards, structure, and accountability that keep the department running without constant management oversight.
We are not looking for someone who does more than just works alongside the team, but also not someone who manages the team from a distance. We need a supervisor who bridges both gaps — organised, process-driven, and detail-focused, while also being a credible, hands-on presence that the team respects and responds to.
What This Role Actually Looks Like Day-to-Day
Each day there will be a clear set of objectives and targets, and the role is to ensure they are met. You will walk the floor, check that processes are being followed, step in where needed, and close out the day knowing documentation is complete and stock is accurate.
This role reports directly to the Purchasing and Logistics Manager and is expected to significantly reduce the need for management to step in on operational and administrative matters.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, motivate, and support the warehouse team daily — setting the standard through your own conduct.
- Run brief daily briefings to communicate priorities and updates.
- Hold team members accountable to performance and process standards, addressing issues promptly and constructively.
- Support the onboarding and training of new operatives.
Organisation & Area Management
- Own the physical organisation of the warehouse — correct storage, clearly defined areas, safe and accessible at all times.
- Manage daily workflow across goods-in, stock control, and dispatch, adjusting priorities as needed.
- Carry out regular walkthroughs to identify and resolve housekeeping, safety, or compliance issues.
Process Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all warehouse procedures are followed correctly and consistently across the team.
- Oversee completion of all documentation — stock transfer sheets, ERP entries, pallet slips, and despatch records — to a high standard.
- Provide regular updates to the Purchasing and Logistics Manager covering output, issues, and anything requiring attention.
Accountability & Problem Solving
- Take ownership when things go wrong — identify the cause, communicate it, and implement a fix.
- Act as the first point of escalation for the team, resolving day-to-day issues independently wherever possible
- Ensure non-conforming materials are correctly identified, labelled, quarantined, and communicated to the relevant team.
Operational Duties
- Operate forklifts and warehouse equipment where licenced to do so; willingness to obtain certification is expected where not yet held.
- Work alongside the team on loading, unloading, picking, packing, and dispatch as required.
- Support stock checks and inventory accuracy reviews, liaising with the Purchasing Team on documentation and despatch.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Demonstrable experience in a supervisory or team leader role within a warehouse or logistics environment.
- A track record of taking ownership — able to give clear examples of problems identified, led on, and resolved.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities at once.
- High attention to detail, particularly around documentation, stock accuracy, and process compliance.
- Confident communicator who can give clear direction, deliver feedback, and raise issues without hesitation.
- Willing to work hands-on on the floor alongside the team — this is not a desk role.
Highly Desirable
- Forklift licence (counterbalance as a minimum) — an advantage but not essential for the right candidate.
- Experience in a structured process environment — quality control, manufacturing, or production backgrounds are welcomed.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and warehouse documentation.
- Experience training or inducting new team members
- Competitive salary — dependent on experience (discussed at interview)
- Permanent, full-time position — Monday to Friday
- 40 hours per week with overtime available
- Bonus scheme upon successful completion of probation period
- Health cover package
- The opportunity to genuinely own and shape the warehouse operation
- Supportive management, clear structure, and room to grow within an expanding business
