Research Scientist / Laboratory Technician (Part-Time)
Hypocotyl Ltd is an innovative biotechnology company developing sustainable methods for producing pharmaceutical ingredients using plant cell suspension cultures. As an early-stage company, we offer the opportunity to contribute directly to exciting research and development projects at the forefront of plant biotechnology.
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Scientist or Laboratory Technician to join our team on a part-time basis.
The successful candidate will contribute to a range of laboratory activities, including:
- Plant tissue culture and plant cell suspension culture
- Metabolite extraction and analysis
- Molecular biology techniques
- Microscopy and imaging
- Experimental design, data recording and analysis
- General laboratory organisation and maintenance
The role can be adapted to suit the experience and strengths of the successful candidate. Training will be provided where required, and there will be opportunities to develop new technical skills and contribute to a growing biotechnology business.
Essential Requirements
- BSc degree (or equivalent) in Plant Science, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline
- Demonstrable laboratory experience in an academic, industrial, or research environment
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage experimental work effectively
- Excellent record-keeping and communication skills
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- MSc, PhD, or postdoctoral research experience in a relevant discipline
- Experience with plant tissue culture or plant cell culture systems
- Experience of analytical chemistry, metabolite analysis, or molecular biology techniques
- Experience with microscopy and image analysis
- Experience working in a biotechnology or research and development environment
