The Education Training Collective (Etc.) is a dynamic and forward-thinking group of colleges and training providers, including Stockton Riverside College, Redcar and Cleveland College, Bede Sixth Form College, NETA Training Group and Innersummit. Together, we deliver high-quality education and skills training across the Tees Valley.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Data Protection Manager to join our IT Services / Information Governance team, reporting to our Group Head of IT.
Our team plays a key role in supporting the organisation’s digital, data, and technology landscape—ensuring systems, information, and services are secure, effective, and compliant. We are a friendly, collaborative, and forward-thinking team, committed to continuous improvement and delivering high-quality support to colleagues and learners across the Group.
As a Data Protection Manager with Etc., you will be responsible for leading and developing the organisation’s data protection and information governance framework. This includes ensuring compliance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, acting as the organisation’s Data Protection Officer, managing data breaches and investigations, leading audits and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), developing policies and procedures, and delivering training and awareness across all staff groups.
The ideal candidate will be organised, proactive, and highly professional, with excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. You will have the ability to influence and advise senior stakeholders, work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail and manage competing priorities effectively. A collaborative approach and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential.
You will have significant experience in a data protection or information governance role, alongside a strong working knowledge of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Experience of managing data breaches, developing compliance frameworks, and delivering training is essential. A degree (or equivalent experience) is required, and a relevant data protection qualification is desirable. Ongoing professional development will be supported, and you will have the opportunity to further develop your expertise within a supportive and motivated team.
