Join Our Team: In-House Design Consultant (Bathrooms & Exteriors)
Are you passionate about interior design with a vision that extends beyond the four walls of a home? We are looking for a creative, proactive In-House Designer to join our team in a dynamic, split-focus role. You will be the bridge between a customer’s vision and their reality, primarily focusing on transforming their interior spaces with our premium Bathrooms, Wall Panels, and Flooring, while also taking that inspiration outside to collaborate on exterior projects.
The Role
This is a varied, customer-facing role where design meets sales. Based at our retail counter, your primary responsibility will be designing and selling bathroom and interior solutions. However, you will also act as a crucial support bridge, working alongside our External Project Specialist to bring outdoor spaces (Decking, Fencing, and Cladding) to life on screen.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Engagement: Proactively approach customers on the retail floor to discuss their home improvement projects, inviting them to use our professional design service for both inside and outside their home.
- Bathroom & Interior Sales: Take the lead on processing sales and specifying components for trade and retail customers looking for bathrooms, wall panels, and flooring.
- Interior Visual Design: Conduct one-on-one design appointments using Virtual Worlds to help customers visualize their new bathroom layouts and wall panel setups.
- External Project Collaboration: Work closely with our External Project Specialist to draft 3D layouts in SketchUp, helping customers visualise how our decking, fencing, and external cladding will complete their outdoor living spaces.
- Holistic Design: Help customers bridge the gap between their indoor aesthetics and outdoor spaces, ensuring a cohesive design flow from the bathroom to the garden.
- Product Expertise: Provide knowledgeable, practical advice on our core interior products (plumbing, fixtures, panels) while maintaining a solid working knowledge of our exterior composite and plastic ranges.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a split role, balancing technical design skills across different software platforms with a friendly, sales-driven personality.
- Software Proficiency: Previous experience using interior design software (like Virtual Worlds) is essential. Experience with SketchUp for drafting exterior/spatial layouts is highly desirable to fulfill the split nature of this role.
- Industry Knowledge: A strong background in the DIY/home improvement industry, with a primary focus on bathroom components and layouts, plus an eagerness to learn the specification side of exterior plastics and decking.
- Design Flair: A keen eye for aesthetics, spatial planning, and the ability to envision how interior styles can influence outdoor landscaping.
- Communication: Comfortable approaching customers, confidently "selling" the value of our design services, and collaborating seamlessly with our external sales specialists.
Position Details
- Type: Part-Time/Full Time
- Schedule: 5 days per week (Monday – Saturday).
- Weekend Work: A rolling Saturday rota is in place to ensure fair coverage.
- Training: We provide full training on our SAP B1 system to ensure you have the technical tools to process your sales and succeed.
