About the Role
Durham Lifting Ltd is currently seeking a Lifting Equipment Inspector to join our experienced and growing team based in Middlesbrough.
In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and assessing a wide range of lifting and rigging equipment to ensure it is safe, compliant, and fit for use. Your work will play a key role in maintaining the highest safety standards for our clients, ensuring all equipment meets statutory requirements and performs reliably in demanding environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out thorough inspections of lifting and rigging equipment in accordance with LOLER regulations
- Identify defects, wear, and damage, and determine suitability for continued use
- Complete inspection reports, certificates, and records accurately and on time
- Carry out basic repairs or arrange remedial actions where required
- Perform proof load testing and functional testing where applicable
- Ensure all inspections are carried out safely and in line with company procedures
- Liaise professionally with clients and site personnel
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and care of inspection equipment
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Lifting Equipment Inspector or in a similar inspection or engineering role
- Good working knowledge of lifting equipment and rigging accessories
- Strong understanding of LOLER requirements
- Ability to work independently and manage site-based inspections
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to travel across the UK as required
- Strong attention to detail and a safety-first mindset
Desirable (but not essential)
- LEEA qualifications (e.g. General Lifting Equipment Examiner or equivalent)
- Experience inspecting slings, shackles, spreader beams, and bespoke lifting equipment
- Experience with test houses or proof load testing environments
