Technical Service & Sales Representative
Supporting timber manufacturing and construction customers with tooling, fasteners, and consumables.
Cheshire based with travel
Competitive salary - flexibility for the right person
Benefits: Company pension, on-site parking, free parking, sick pay, profit sharing
Job Summary
This role is ideal for someone looking to come off the tools while staying connected to the industry they know best.
If you have a background in joinery, timber frame, garden building manufacturing, roof truss, or a similar hands-on environment, and you enjoy meeting people and building relationships, this could be an excellent next step.
We are looking for a proactive Technical Service & Sales Representative to support our existing customers with on-site pneumatic tool repairs and technical advice, while also identifying and converting new business opportunities across timber-related manufacturing and construction sectors.
You will take ownership of outbound sales activity - creating conversations, qualifying opportunities, handling objections, and progressing prospects through to close - while delivering practical support that strengthens customer relationships.
Working within a small but ambitious business, this is an opportunity to take genuine ownership, make a visible impact, and help shape our future growth.
What the role involves
- Proactive outbound calling to prospective customers
- Visiting workshops and factories to introduce our products and services
- Building, prioritising, and progressing opportunities through a sales pipeline
- Managing opportunities from first contact through to close
- Coordinating quotations, samples, and follow-up actions
- Providing on-site technical support to existing customers
- Diagnosing, servicing, and repairing pneumatic tools and equipment at customer premises
- Advising customers on tooling, consumables, and best practice
- Maintaining CRM accuracy and reporting weekly activity
This role is likely to suit someone who
- Enjoys meeting people and opening conversations
- Is confident on the phone and comfortable walking into workshops and factories
- Understands industrial, manufacturing, construction, or trade environments
- Has hands-on experience with pneumatic tools and workshop equipment
- Wants more ownership and variety in their work
- Takes initiative rather than waiting to be directed
- Is looking to transition from a fully hands-on role into a customer-facing position
Our ideal candidate is someone who
- creates momentum
- follows through
- fails fast and learns quickly
- communicates well
- wants to make an impact
Experience & Background
We value attitude, practical understanding, and social confidence just as highly as direct sales experience.
You may already be working in:
- joinery or timber manufacturing
- tool repair or technical service
- manufacturing support
- trade counter sales
- Sales or business development
This role is particularly well suited to someone with timber manufacturing, construction, or hands-on trade experience who wants to step away from full-time bench work while staying connected to the industry and developing new commercial skills.
Skills & Knowledge
We do not hire based on qualifications alone. While formal qualifications are welcomed, attitude, experience, and approach matter most.
The ideal candidate will be:
- a confident communicator, by email. phone and face-to-face
- able to carry out basic diagnosis, servicing, and repair of pneumatic tools
- familiar with workshop, manufacturing, and trade environments
- able to organise and prioritise opportunities independently
- confident using CRM systems, email, Excel, and related software
- commercially aware and curious about how customers operate
