Overview
We are seeking a motivated Apprentice Floor Layer to join our construction team. This entry-level position offers valuable hands-on experience in flooring installation and related trades. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of experienced professionals, gaining practical skills in various aspects of floor laying and general construction tasks. This role is ideal for individuals interested in developing a career within the construction industry, with opportunities to learn about carpentry, schematics, and the use of power tools.

Duties

Assist in preparing surfaces for flooring installation, including cleaning and levelling
Learn to measure and cut flooring materials accurately using hand tools and power tools
Support in laying and securing different types of flooring such as wood, laminate, or vinyl
Follow schematics and instructions provided by supervisors to ensure precise installation
Assist with the mixing and application of adhesives or other materials as required
Participate in site safety procedures and maintain a clean, organised work environment
Support with general construction tasks including painting, carpentry, and minor repairs as needed
Operate hand tools and power tools under supervision to develop proficiency in their use

Requirements

Basic common sense
Willingness to learn new skills related to flooring installation and construction work
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions carefully
Good organisational skills with attention to detail when working with schematics and measurements
Physically fit with the ability to perform manual tasks including lifting and standing for extended periods
