Job Description: Handyperson / Maintenance Operative (Part-Time)

Role Overview
We are seeking a reliable and practical Handyperson / Maintenance Operative to support the upkeep and organisation of our small warehouse/stores. This is a part-time role (10 hours per week), ideally suited to a semi-retired or retired individual looking for flexible work. The role will focus on maintaining and repairing cleaning equipment—particularly vacuum cleaners and floor cleaning machines—as well as supporting equipment tracking and basic fleet coordination and maintenance of gardening machinery.
Key Responsibilities
· Carry out general maintenance and repair tasks within the warehouse and stores
· Inspect, fault-find, and repair cleaning equipment (vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, polishing machines)
· Perform basic electrical fault finding and minor repairs
· Maintain and service garden machinery (e.g. mowers, strimmers)
· Maintain an accurate asset register of all cleaning equipment
· Plan and track equipment service and maintenance schedules
· Monitor company vehicle fleet service schedules and MOT due dates
· Ensure all tools, equipment, and vehicles are safe and compliant
· Assist with stock organisation and general tidiness of the stores area
· Carry out minor building repairs
· Support health & safety compliance
· Conduct PAT Testing if qualified (training can be provided)
Skills & Experience Required
· Experience in a handyperson, maintenance, or similar role
· Experience repairing electrical cleaning equipment (hoovers, floor machines)
· Ability to diagnose faults and carry out basic repairs
· Comfortable maintaining records, logs, and schedules
· Familiarity with garden machinery maintenance (desirable)
· Ability to work independently
Working Hours
10 hours per week (ideally 2 hours per day, Monday–Friday – flexibility available)
Pay: £13.50 per hour
