About the Role
Here at The Big Southwest Wedding Fair, we are looking for a proactive, organised and confident Events & Marketing Assistant to join our growing business on a part-time basis.
This role will support a portfolio of established events, including The Big Southwest Wedding Fair, The Preloved Wedding Boot Fair, Wedchella Festival and new event concepts currently in development.
The position combines sales support, administration, event coordination and social media assistance, making it ideal for someone who enjoys variety and wants to play an active role within a creative and growing business.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Exhibitor Relations
- Contacting past exhibitors and suppliers
- Following up event enquiries
- Introducing potential exhibitors to upcoming events
- Building and maintaining supplier relationships
- Supporting exhibitor sales and bookings
- Managing and updating exhibitor databases
- Following up outstanding enquiries and opportunities
Administration
- Managing and organising inboxes
- Updating spreadsheets, databases and booking systems
- Preparing documents and event information
- Supporting general business administration
Social Media Support
- Engaging with comments and messages
- Updating event listings and online information
- Supporting marketing campaigns and promotions
Event Support
- Assisting with event planning and coordination
- Communicating with suppliers and exhibitors
- Supporting logistics and event preparation
- Attending and supporting events when required
About You
- Highly organised and detail-oriented
- Friendly, professional and confident communicating with people
- Comfortable speaking on the phone and building relationships
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Proactive and solutions-focused
- Reliable, trustworthy and efficient
- Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Skills & Experience
Experience in any of the following would be beneficial:
- Events industry experience
- Wedding industry experience
- Sales or customer service experience
- Administration or Virtual Assistant experience
- Social media management experience
- Experience using Canva, Meta Business Suite or similar platforms
Whilst experience is welcomed, attitude, organisation and willingness to learn are equally important.
Requirements
- Must be based in the UK (Our events are Southwest based so you must be willing and able to travel to this area during events).
- Own laptop or desktop computer
- Reliable internet connection
- Ability to work remotely
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good working knowledge of social media, Microsoft and Google sheets
Hours & Pay
- Initially 5–10 hours per week
- Flexible working hours
- Fully remote position
- Self-employed/freelance basis
- Monthly invoicing required
- Potential for additional hours and responsibilities as the business grows
Rate of pay will be from £13.00-£14.00 per hour, dependent on experience, skills and suitability for the role.
Employment Status
This position is offered on a self-employed/freelance basis.
The successful applicant will be responsible for managing their own tax, National Insurance contributions and any other obligations associated with self-employment.
Invoices should be submitted monthly and payment will be made upon receipt of a valid invoice at the start of each month.
Applicants should either already be registered as self-employed or be willing to register as self-employed before commencing work.
Support and guidance can be provided for those who are new to self-employment and require assistance understanding the process.
