Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Head of Estates and Development to lead our property management, development projects, and estate operations. This pivotal role involves overseeing the planning, execution, and maintenance of our estate portfolio, ensuring optimal functionality, safety, and compliance. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership, project management expertise, and a comprehensive understanding of mechanical and electrical systems. Join us to drive innovative development initiatives and maintain a high standard of estate excellence that supports our organizational growth and operational efficiency.Camphill School Aberdeen is seeking a Head of Estates and Developments to lead the stewardship, sustainability and future development of our unique estate.

Supporting more than 100 children and young people with learning disabilities and complex additional support needs, our estate spans three campuses and includes residential homes, educational buildings, workshops, community spaces, land, infrastructure and transport assets. The environments we provide are central to the quality of life, learning and care experienced by the young people we support.

Reporting to the Chief Executive and working as part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will provide strategic oversight of estate management, compliance, maintenance planning, capital development, sustainability and infrastructure. You will lead long-term planning and investment while ensuring our buildings, land and facilities remain safe, compliant and fit for purpose.

We are looking for a senior estates, facilities, infrastructure or asset management professional with experience of complex environments, strong leadership skills and the ability to balance practical delivery with long-term strategic thinking.

Responsibilities

The Head of Estates and Developments is accountable for:

setting direction and priorities
ensuring standards and compliance
overseeing maintenance and investment decisions
providing assurance to the Chief Executive and Board

Requirements

Person Specification

Experience

Experience of leadership in estates, facilities, infrastructure or asset management
Experience operating in a complex, multisite or mixed-use environment
Experience of compliance, health and safety and risk management
Experience overseeing maintenance programmes and associated budgets
Experience contributing to or leading capital or estate development projects

Knowledge and Skills

Understanding of estate management, infrastructure and maintenance systems
Knowledge of relevant statutory and regulatory requirements
Ability to interpret technical issues and provide clear, practical advice
Strong planning, prioritisation and decision-making capability
Ability to lead through others and hold delivery to account
Ability to present clear, concise information to senior leadership and Board

Leadership and Approach

Able to operate effectively at senior leadership level
Clear, consistent and proportionate in judgement and decision-making
Able to balance risk, practicality and organisational values
Focused on stewardship, sustainability and long-term thinking
Committed to environments that support dignity, care and community life

Pay: £50,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
