Supply Chain Graduate
Pelta Medical Papers is a leading manufacturer of high-quality, medical-grade paper used worldwide in healthcare, sterilisation, and laboratory environments. Our customers do not tolerate late, short, or out-of-spec deliveries — when a sterilisation or medical-device line depends on our paper, a missed shipment is not an inconvenience, it is a stoppage. At the same time, raw materials — pulp, chemicals, and packaging — are the largest cost in everything we make, so how we buy, hold, and move them goes straight to the bottom line. The reliability and the economics of our supply chain are what separate a mill that serves its customers profitably from one that lets them down. Continuity, precision, and cost discipline are at the heart of everything we do, and we are now looking for an ambitious early-career supply chain professional to take real ownership of that chain from day one.
We are seeking a degree-qualified candidate who is at the start of their career, either a recent graduate or with up to a few years' industrial experience. This is a hands-on, broad-scope role spanning procurement, inventory and materials management, production planning, and logistics. You will work directly with our production team, our suppliers and customers, and senior leadership on problems that matter — keeping a complex manufacturing operation supplied, flowing, and shipping, at the right cost.
Working closely with our experienced team, you will:
- Manage day-to-day procurement of raw materials — pulp, chemicals, and packaging — raising purchase orders, tracking deliveries, and managing supplier lead times, pricing, and performance.
- Own inventory accuracy and stock levels, balancing the real cost of holding stock against the risk of a production stoppage, and root-causing the discrepancies when the numbers don't reconcile.
- Plan and schedule alongside the production team, so that the right materials are in the right place when the machines need them.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics, including domestic and export shipments, and resolve the problems when they arise.
- Investigate and resolve supply issues — late deliveries, shortages, quality rejections, and cost overruns — back to the underlying cause, not just the symptom.
- Work with suppliers and customers on technical specifications, certificates of conformity, material qualifications, and delivery requirements.
- Build reporting that gives management a clear, honest view of spend, stock, supplier performance, and on-time-in-full delivery.
- Contribute to continuous improvement projects across the site, working alongside engineers, operators, and management.
- Help build the operational knowledge base of the business — turning what we learn into documented procedures, supplier agreements, and planning rules.
Essential requirements:
- A 2:1 or above in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Engineering, Economics, Business, or a closely related numerate discipline. No equivalents will be considered.
- Strong A-Level results, including a numerate subject (e.g. Mathematics).
- Strong practical numeracy and confident, capable use of Excel — you should be able to turn data into a decision.
- Analytical, structured, first-principles approach to problem-solving.
- Self-starter with genuine intellectual curiosity and an appetite for learning a complex industrial process, including a willingness to get onto the production floor and understand how it actually runs.
- Good written and verbal communication — you will be writing reports, specifications, and supplier- and customer-facing documents.
