Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated Apprentice Design & CAM Technician to join our joinery manufacturing team on an 18 month NVQ or Equivalent programme . This role is designed to bridge the gap between creative design and physical production. You will learn to transform design concepts into machine-ready instructions, with a heavy emphasis on Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM). Under the mentorship of our Senior CNC Programmer, you will develop the skills necessary to ensure our wood-based products are manufactured with absolute precision and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
As an apprentice, you will support the production workflow through the following areas:
- CAM Programming: Learn to develop and refine CNC programs specifically for wood-based manufacturing.
- CAD Support: Utilise CAD software to assist in producing production-ready drawings.
- 3D Modelling: Learn to use SolidWorks and Swood to create detailed models and convert them into machine-readable formats for automated production.
- Quality Assurance: Liaise with CNC Team to ensure quality standards.
- Troubleshooting: Work alongside the CNC team to identify and resolve programming issues, helping to minimise downtime.
Key Requirements Essential
We are looking for a candidate who is eager to start a career in technical manufacturing. While this is an entry-level apprenticeship, the following attributes are highly valued:
- Technical Interest: A strong desire to master CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) and CNC technologies.
- Software Aptitude: A basic understanding or interest in learning CAD and SolidWorks is essential.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to interpret technical specifications and measurements with accuracy.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: A proactive approach to troubleshooting and a keen interest in how things are built.
- Attention to Detail: High level of precision required for creating production drawings and machine programs.
- A qualification (or current study) in engineering, manufacturing, or a related technical field is preferred

Our office hours are 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Thursday, 8:00am - 3:00pm on Friday's.
