Overview
We are seeking a professional and reliable HGV Class 2 volumetric concrete driver / Yardman during downtime. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating our volumetric lorry to deliver concrete across various locations locally. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced individuals in operating our lorry and the plant to load (telehandler) and delivering exceptional service on time . The position is self employed at present but for the right candidate who is capable of helping us expand our concrete presence, we will in time move to PAYE. This roll does require a valid HGV Class 2 licence, along with relevant driving experience.
Duties
- Safely operate our volumetric lorry in compliance with all road safety regulations and company policies
- Deliver goods to designated locations in a timely and professional manner
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and roadworthiness
- Secure loads properly to prevent movement during transit
- Be responsible for washing out of the auger after use and keeping the lorry greased and clean.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and clients regarding delivery schedules or any issues encountered during routes
- Adhere to all health and safety protocols, including proper handling of cargo and vehicle maintenance
- Operate our loading telehandler and silo professionally
- Be responsible for stock levels of cement and aggregate and liaise with the office to ensure we have a constant supply
- Maintain a clean and tidy yard during downtime and be open to helping our groundworks team out with stock collection/deliveries via our fleet vans if needed
Qualifications
- Valid HGV Class 2 licence (category C)
- Proven experience as a construction vehicle driver, preferably within the concrete sector.
- Knowledge of loading via the use of a telehandler
- Good driving record with no serious offences or convictions
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
- Excellent communication skills and professional attitude
- As a multi functional role, the willingness to cover various aspects to support the successful running of the company.

Pay: £16.00-£19.00 per hour
