Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
Job Introduction
Our Housing Maintenance and Investment team plays a vital role in ensuring our 11,000+ properties are safe, well maintained, and provide quality homes for residents across Milton Keynes. We deliver repairs, improvements, and construction projects that make a real difference to people’s lives.
As the Lead Surveyor, you will have detailed knowledge and experience of damp and mould management, including an understanding of Awaab’s Law. You will lead on housing safety management (HHSRS) and compliance, providing expert technical advice, managing complex cases, and overseeing contractor performance to ensure consistently high standards.
This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced professional with strong technical expertise and leadership skills who is committed to improving the safety and quality of our housing stock.

Role Responsibilities
- Lead building surveying and project management for housing repairs, improvements, and construction.

Act as technical lead for damp, mould, and housing safety compliance.

Support strategic planning and continuous improvement in housing safety.

Manage contractor performance and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.

Prepare reports for governance and regulatory bodies.

Mentor and develop surveyors and supervisors within the team.
Ideal Candidate
- Holds a BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying and professional membership.

Experienced in Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) and housing safety legislation.

Strong knowledge of building pathology, especially damp and mould.

Skilled in contract management and stakeholder engagement.

Excellent leadership and communication skills.

Able to prioritise, make sound decisions, and deliver results under pressure
To be successful in this role, you’ll need a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. If you’re offered the position, we’ll ask for proof of your licence and vehicle insurance, including business use cover. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to confirm your appointment without these documents.
