We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for food preparation and a solid understanding of kitchen operations. Duties
- Assist in food preparation and cooking under the supervision of senior chefs
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in all kitchen activities
- Support the team in food presentation and garnishing to ensure visual appeal
- Organise ingredients and supplies efficiently to facilitate smooth kitchen operations
- Participate in cleaning schedules, ensuring all work areas are hygienic and well-maintained
- Collaborate with team members to meet service deadlines during busy periods
- Contribute ideas for menu development and improve kitchen workflows where appropriate
- Supervise junior staff or trainees as part of team management responsibilities when required
Requirements
- Proven experience in food production, kitchen work, or hospitality environments
- Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively
- Experience in supervising or leading a team is desirable but not essential
- Good understanding of culinary techniques, including food preparation and cooking methods
- Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is advantageous
- Ability to work efficiently within a fast-paced environment, maintaining attention to detail
- A proactive attitude with excellent communication skills and teamwork spirit
