Groundworks Apprentice

Opportunity:
We are currently seeking enthusiastic Groundworks Apprentices to participate in our Groundworks Apprenticeship Programme, starting in September 2026.
The successful apprentice will be based in and around the Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire area. The college location is Milton Keynes, and successful apprentices must be able to travel to the Bleak Hall Campus as and when required.
The Successful Applicant will:
- Hold GCSEs in Maths & English at Level 2 or above.
- Be dedicated to undertaking the Level 2 Groundworks Apprentice Standard – minimum 18 months.
- Be available to start work from 01st September 2026.
- Can commute to Milton Keynes College.
- Have a full UK driving license or alternative reliable means of travelling to college and site.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
o Learning from experienced groundworkers and site managers, acquiring skills necessary for preparing sub-surfaces for structural work to being on-site.
o Ensuring Health & Safety guidelines are always upheld.
o Installing drainage systems.
o Digging, shovelling and slabbing.
o Levelling stone and raking tarmac.
o Mixing of cement and concrete.
o Executing final touches on hard landscaping projects.

- You’ll gain experience through both on-the-job learning and off-the-job training. Depending on the training provider, this could include college day release, online workshops, and regular assessor visits.

o Contract Type: Apprentice
o Weekly Hours: 07:30am to 16:30pm Monday – Friday (07:30am – 15:30pm if under 18yrs)
o Holiday Allowance: 23 days plus bank holidays
