Reporting to The Senior Pastor
The Minister of Religion - Associate Pastor ( Teaching Ministries & Evangelism) will serve as Assistant Pastor to the Senior Pastor working together with her to fulfil the vision and mission of the Church, to develop and grow the Church and to explore the possibility of planting other parishes of the Church in surrounding areas.
Summary Job description:
- To preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, by continually striving to develop preaching and teaching methods that inspire and challenge spiritual growth of the Body
- To lead the Parish Evangelism and Church planting team, and eventually assume the role of Pastoring Pastor of one of the branches of RCCG which will be situated in an area to be identified, where there is greatest need for the intervention of the Church.
- Serving as the Associate Pastor, to revamp, enhance and re-implement the administrative systems and processes & procedures of the Church, to enable the smooth running of the Church and all its branches, as well as its various community projects.
- In conjunction with the Senior Pastor, to develop the family life ministry of the Church, including the Women’s ministry, the Counselling Ministries (Bereavement, Marriage, Welfare, Emotional/mental health), and take it to the next level.
- To work as part of the pastoral team with our sister parish RCCG Hossanah House, Wolverhampton to develop and implement (while maintaining the ones already started) innovative outreach projects, in the Wolverhampton area, in conjunction with our community engagement arm, “Harvest Fellowship Warm Hub”.
- To work with other Pastors, Churches and community organisations in our local areas to reach and pray for the community.
- To work with the outreach team to plan and implement community outreach programmes for the unchurched, the unemployed, and other people in the community who need our assistance, for the greater good of our community in Rugby and in Wolverhampton and its environs.
- To seek to train directly or indirectly, through formal and lay leadership, disciple and equip leaders for ministry through personal modelling, teaching and mentoring
- To personally minister or encourage others to minister to those in crises (i.e. death, sickness, trauma, or other significant events where direct pastoral care is required to demonstrate warmth, openness, and sensitivity to the needs of those involved.)
- To counsel those in spiritual need, comfort the bereaved; assist persons facing problems or decisions with personal counselling.
· To stand in for, or represent the Senior Pastor at events, engagements and services, whenever necessary and where ever required
And;
· To serve the Lord Jesus Christ in any other capacity as required.
Skills & Qualifications:
The post holder is required to hold a Diploma in Theology from The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Bible College, A certificate from the School of Disciples of the RCCG, or other recognised Bible believeing Global Ministeries
A degree-level qualification, (or equivalent and appropriate experience) is desirable.
The post holder will also need to have considerable experience in ministering/teaching fluently in both English and at least one of the major Nigerian languages. (Igbo, Yoruba or Hausa)., and an ability to interpret from that language to English, and vice versa.
The nature and context of this post means that there is an occupational requirement for a committed Christian employee, demonstrating full knowledge and support of the mission, vision and values of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. Therefore a qualification from one of the educational Institutions of the RCCG is desirable for this role.
