Job Summary
We are looking for a practical, organised and hands-on Equipment Operations Coordinator to help with the day-to-day running of our machinery sales and hire operation.
The role is varied and would suit someone who is comfortable around machinery, tools, forklifts, transport companies and customers, but who is also capable of using a computer, taking clear photos, writing basic listings and keeping records up to date.
You do not need formal qualifications for this role. We are more interested in someone with common sense, a good work ethic, practical ability and a willingness to learn.
Forklift experience would be beneficial, but is not essential. Training can be provided for the right person.
Responsibilities
Prepare machinery and equipment for sale or hire, including basic cleaning, checking, photographing and organising.
Take clear photographs and videos of machinery, equipment, attachments, condition, specification plates and any relevant details.
Create and update machinery listings for platforms such as eBay, Machinery Trader, the company website and social media.
Help manage the hire side of the business, including bookings, equipment availability, collections, returns and basic equipment checks.
Coordinate collections, deliveries, pallets, couriers and haulage.
Assist with customer enquiries by phone, email and in person.
Keep accurate records of stock, hire equipment, customer enquiries, transport arrangements and sales paperwork.
Help with basic import, shipping and customs administration where required.
Update social media with stock arrivals, machinery for sale, hire equipment and general company activity.
Work with the existing team to keep the yard, workshop and stock areas organised.
Assist with loading and unloading equipment where safe and appropriate.
Carry out general operational tasks needed to keep the business running smoothly.
Skills and Experience
Hands-on experience with machinery, plant, vehicles, tools, workshop equipment, farming equipment or yard operations would be highly beneficial.
Forklift experience would be useful, but is not essential.
Experience in machinery sales, plant hire, agricultural equipment, construction equipment, transport, logistics or a similar environment would be an advantage.
Good basic computer skills, including email, internet use, photos, spreadsheets and simple online listings.
Ability to write clear and honest equipment descriptions.
Good attention to detail, especially when photographing equipment, recording specifications and arranging transport.
Confident dealing with customers, suppliers, drivers and couriers.
Organised, reliable and able to manage a varied workload.
Able to work independently once trained.
Willing to get stuck in with both practical yard work and office/admin tasks.
Qualifications
Formal qualifications are not essential.
We value hands-on experience, practical ability and the right attitude over academic qualifications.
A full UK driving licence is required.
Forklift licence or previous forklift experience would be beneficial, but training may be provided.
About the Role
This is a varied role in a machinery sales and hire business. One day you may be cleaning and photographing a machine for sale, the next you may be arranging transport, updating listings, helping with a hire booking or dealing with a customer collection.
The ideal person will be practical, reliable, organised and happy working in a small business where the role is varied and no two days are exactly the same.
This position would suit someone from a plant hire, machinery, farming, transport, workshop, yard, engineering, vehicle or equipment background who wants a varied role with responsibility and room to develop.
