ATC Floors and Doors Ltd is a family-run timber flooring and door business working across Monmouthshire, South Wales, Gloucestershire and the surrounding areas.
We have showrooms in Monmouth and Cheltenham, along with a busy yard and workshop in Monmouth. As the business continues to grow, we are looking for a practical, organised and hands-on Workshop and Yard Manager to help us run and develop this side of the business.
This is a varied role and would suit someone who enjoys keeping things organised, solving practical problems and helping a busy workshop and yard run properly.
The role will involve managing the day-to-day organisation of the yard and workshop, supporting our fitting teams with materials and tools, helping with deliveries, keeping vans and equipment organised, and working with us to improve the layout and efficiency of the yard as the business grows.
Over the coming months, we will also be reorganising the yard, removing an existing mezzanine, setting up new machinery and investing further in our workshop. This may include sanding machinery, dust extraction, table saws, planers and other timber preparation equipment.
We would like to find someone practical and switched-on who can work with us and our existing team to set this up properly and help grow our in-house workshop capability.
The role will include:
- Organising and maintaining the yard and workshop
- Helping improve the layout and systems within the yard
- Receiving deliveries of timber flooring, doors and materials
- Loading and unloading vans
- Operating a forklift, with training provided if required
- Preparing materials for customer jobs and fitting teams
- Breaking down pallets and organising timber/doors safely
- Helping with sanding, oiling and preparation of timber flooring where required
- Managing stock of tools, fixings, oils, adhesives, sanding discs and ancillary items
- Keeping the yard, workshop and storage areas clean, tidy and safe
- Supporting occasional deliveries and collections
- Keeping vans, tools and equipment organised
- Helping with basic maintenance and handyman jobs around the yard, showroom and workshop
- Supporting the installation team by clearing materials/waste from site where required
- Working with the directors and team to improve how the workshop operates
We are looking for someone who is:
- Practical, hands-on and happy to get stuck in
- Organised, tidy and methodical
- Switched-on and able to think ahead
- Reliable and able to work independently once trained
- Interested in timber, tools, machinery and workshop processes
- Confident solving practical problems
- Friendly and helpful when dealing with customers, suppliers and the fitting team
- Comfortable working in a busy yard/workshop environment
- Keen to help develop and improve systems, rather than just complete daily tasks
A clean driving licence is important.
Forklift experience would be useful, but full training can be provided for the right person.
Experience in a timber yard, builders’ merchant, joinery workshop, furniture workshop, workshop machinery, trade, farming, estate maintenance, deliveries or a similar hands-on role would be helpful.
Hours
Ideally Monday to Friday.
We are open to discussing shorter working days for the right person, for example 8.00am–2.00pm or 8.00am–3.00pm.
Closed weekends and bank holidays.
Pay
£14.00–£18.00 per hour depending on experience, ability and suitability for the role.
PAYE position with paid holidays and pension.
Location
Monmouth, NP25.
The role will mainly be based at our Monmouth yard/workshop, with occasional deliveries and collections in the surrounding areas.
