About Us
We are a well-established, highly ambitious, and market-leading manufacturing and installation business based in Shropshire. Over nearly 50 years, we have built a reputation for designing, manufacturing, and installing exceptional covered spaces and high-value capital projects across the UK’s education, healthcare, and commercial sectors.
If you are a high-level financial professional looking for a high-impact, strategic interim project, this role offers a compelling opportunity to shape the future infrastructure of a growing business.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Finance Director (FD) or Financial Controller (FC) for an immediate start. This dual-purpose role is designed to provide immediate operational stability to our finance department following staff changes, while simultaneously blueprinting and building our permanent, internal finance function.
For the right candidate, there is genuine potential for this role to transition into a permanent, full-time position if that aligns with your long-term goals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Controls & Leadership
- Take immediate, hands-on ownership of the finance department and lead our temporary transactional staff.
- Manage and tighten controls around multi-stage Work in Progress (WIP) tracking.
- Oversee Sage project costings and ensure strict compliance with construction-specific tax regulations (including CIS and reverse charge VAT).
2. Team Design & Recruitment
- Map existing financial workflows to identify efficiencies.
- Design a lean, modern internal finance team structure (approximately 2–3 staff members).
- Work directly alongside the SLT to source, interview, recruit, and onboard the new permanent finance team.
What We Are Looking For
- Sector Expertise: Direct experience in construction, capital projects, or manufacturing and installation environments.
- Technical Compliance: Proven proficiency in Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) regulations, reverse charge VAT, and complex WIP accounting.
- Systems Experience: Hands-on experience utilizing Sage accounting platforms specifically for project costings.
- Commitment: Ability to deliver full-time, on-site presence at our Shrewsbury head office for the duration of the contract.
Why Apply?
- High Impact: You won't just be keeping the seats warm; you will actively design the future financial framework and team for a successful business.
- Flexibility: A clean 3–6 month project with the explicit option to discuss a permanent future if the fit is right for both sides.
- Direct Collaboration: Work directly with the business owner to execute strategic changes quickly without corporate red tape.

If you are an adaptable, senior finance professional who thrives in project environments and meets the criteria above, please submit your CV and details of your availability.
