About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Roofing Site Manager / Contracts Manager to join our team and take responsibility for the successful delivery of roofing projects from tender stage through to completion.
The successful candidate must have significant practical and managerial experience in roofing, including the ability to run site teams, coordinate subcontractors, manage labour, organise materials, and ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and to the required standard.
This is a key role for someone who understands roofing from both a technical and commercial perspective, including material breakdowns, take-offs, pricing, ordering, programming, site supervision and client liaison.
Key Responsibilities
The role will include:
- Managing roofing projects on site and/or across multiple contracts.
- Supervising and coordinating direct labour, subcontractors and site teams.
- Preparing material breakdowns and carrying out accurate take-offs from drawings and site measurements.
- Pricing roofing works, variations and works packages.
- Ordering and coordinating materials, plant, scaffold access and site resources.
- Liaising with clients, main contractors, suppliers, designers and consultants.
- Monitoring progress against programme and reporting on delays, risks and site issues.
- Ensuring all works are carried out safely and in accordance with current health and safety requirements.
- Checking quality of workmanship and ensuring compliance with specifications, drawings and manufacturer guidance.
- Managing snagging, handover and completion documentation.
- Supporting tendering, estimating and pre-construction activities where required.
Roofing Experience Required
Applicants must have broad experience across a wide range of roofing systems, including:
- Pitched roofs
- Flat roofs
- Slate roofing
- Clay tile roofing
- Concrete tile roofing
- Natural and artificial slates
- Leadwork and lead detailing
- Zinc, copper and other metal roofing systems
- Felt roofing systems
- Single-ply membrane roofing
- GRP / liquid-applied roofing systems
- Warm roofs and cold roofs
- Insulated roof systems
- Roof repairs, renewals and refurbishment works
- Fascias, soffits, gutters, rainwater goods and associated roofline works
- Roof windows, rooflights and associated flashing details
Experience with solar panel installation on roofs is essential, including knowledge of roof-integrated systems. Experience with Marley SolarTile / Marley inset solar panels or similar integrated solar roofing systems would be highly advantageous.
Essential Requirements
The successful candidate should have:
- Significant roofing management experience, ideally as a Site Manager, Contracts Manager, Roofing Supervisor or Senior Roofing Foreman.
- Strong technical knowledge of roofing materials, build-ups, fixing methods and detailing.
- The ability to read drawings, specifications and schedules.
- Experience completing material take-offs and preparing material breakdowns.
- The ability to price works, variations and labour/material allowances.
- Experience managing teams and subcontractors.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- A practical, hands-on understanding of roofing works.
- Good commercial awareness and the ability to control costs.
- A strong commitment to health, safety and quality.
- A full UK driving licence.

- Asbestos Awareness
- Working at Height training
- Scaffold inspection awareness
- Manufacturer training for roofing systems
- Solar PV roofing installation experience or relevant certification
The Candidate
We are looking for someone who is confident, reliable and capable of taking ownership of projects. The right candidate will be able to plan ahead, solve problems on site, lead teams effectively and maintain good relationships with clients and contractors.
You should be equally comfortable walking a roof, checking details, measuring works, managing labour, pricing a variation, ordering materials and reporting progress.
Pay: From £45,000.00 per year
