Job title: Decorator / Finisher
Responsible to: Team Leader (Repairs)
Salary Grade: £35,188.00 per annum (Dependent on Experience)
Contracted Hours: 40 Hours per week (Full Time)
Purpose of the job:
To provide high‑quality decorative work as part of the installation of new kitchens, bathrooms, and adapted bathrooms within the SLH asset investment programme, covering both SLH properties and those of external clients. The role requires proficiency in lining paper application and wallpapering, delivered to an excellent standard, while maintaining a strong customer‑focused approach.
The postholder will undertake a range of multiskilled tasks to support the wider installation process and ensure a high‑quality finish. While not essential, experience in basic tiling and other complementary multiskilled activities is desirable and would be an advantage.
Key accountabilities:
To significantly contribute to the provision of a first-rate asset investment service for South Lakes Housing’s tenants and external clients by providing ‘Right First Time’ installations including:
1. Decorating (painting of walls, ceilings and woodwork, hanging of paper both lining and wallpaper)
2. Final snagging and identifying incomplete works prior to handover
3. Ensuring and taking responsibility for site cleanliness daily both during and upon completion of work.
4. To interact daily with clients and successfully manage their expectations and maintain communication between them and SLH
5. To assist the installation of new kitchens and bathrooms for South Lakes Housing and similar works to external clients
6. Safe use of hand power tools on site
7. To manage own tasks within the programme
8. Follow the Health and Safety protocols
9. Support in Mould washes and cleaning when required
10. Adhere to South Lakes Housings working policies and procedure
11. To be a proactive member of the SLH team; continually seeking to improve and develop your own skills and the performance of the team. You will seek to improve processes and keep value for money as a focus for the benefit of our customers.
12. To ensure that Health and Safety policies and procedures are embedded and adhered to, to deliver effective and safe services and operations.

14. To ensure that SLH data is collected, safely and appropriately managed, reported accurately and produced in a timely fashion to aid sound decision making and that appropriate procedures, systems and processes are in place to ensure data quality and security.
