Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Bricklayer/Groundworker to join our building firm. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of construction based tasks such as bricklaying slab laying, concreting and working on renovations. Our main projects are extensions, bespoke new builds, garden walls, landscaping and general building. This role offers an excellent opportunity to join a company that works in both residential and commercial construction.

Duties

Lay bricks, blocks, and other masonry units accurately according to specifications
Prepare ground surfaces by levelling, excavating, and compacting to ensure a stable foundation
Operate hand tools such as trowels, hammers, and chisels for bricklaying and masonry work
Use power tools safely for cutting, drilling, and shaping materials
Assist with carpentry tasks including framing and formwork as required
Support roofing activities by installing or repairing roof structures and coverings
Maintain a clean and organised work site to adhere to health and safety standards
Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and effectively

Skills

Proficiency in using hand tools relevant to bricklaying and masonry work
Experience with bricklaying and general masonry techniques
Ability to operate power tools safely and effectively
Basic carpentry skills would be ideal
Good organisational skills with attention to detail in measuring and aligning structures
Physical fitness to undertake manual labour including lifting heavy materials and working at heights when necessary
