Full job description

Royal Voluntary Service has an opportunity available for an Activity Group Coordinator to join our team delivering Dementia Groups across the Leeds area . You will join us on a part-time, permanent basis , and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £13.49 per hour (FTE £24,552 per annum) .

About the Activity Group Coordinator role:

To coordinate and facilitate the operation of weekly activity and support groups for people living with
dementia and/or their carers.

The role of an Activity Group Coordinator is to design, prepare and deliver stimulating and fun activities for
the group on a weekly basis. Activities will include but not limited to; chair based exercise, cognitive
stimulation and craft work. The role will include supporting the Service Manager with the co-ordination of
Volunteers, including recruitment and compliance (training and DBS checks), to enhance the overall service
provision provided to those attending the groups.

Location: Home based within easy reach to travel to groups across the Leeds area.

Hours: 21 hours per week, working Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday

To be considered for this role you will need live within easy reach of the groups and hold valid full UK driving license and have access to a vehicle with business insurance (mileage paid / reimbursed)

Knowledge

A knowledge and experience of dementia (personal and/or professional)
Understanding of the benefit of group settings and activities for people living with dementia
Safeguarding vulnerable adults

Skills

Excellent communication and listening skills
Good organisation and facilitation skills
A valid driving license and access to a vehicle with business insurance (mileage paid / reimbursed) (Essential)

Experience

Experience of working with people living with dementia and/or their carers
Delivering activities within a group setting
Ability to proficiently use standard IT systems – Microsoft Office/Word/Excel, client database entry and management.

Day to day co-ordination of the group provision including but not exclusive to; activity planning and delivery, organising refreshment provision and regular communication with group members and venues.
Co-ordination of volunteers, ensuring arrangements are in place for their recruitment and training. Providing support and ensuring the value of volunteers within each group.
Delivering a high quality activity plan at groups, in line with best practice and feedback from attendees.
Involvement in general administrative duties including data entry for the RVS Management Information Systems.
Participate in local Fundraising for Royal Voluntary Service as agreed with Service Manager and Operations Manager.
Assisting Service Manager to ensuring compliance with statutory standards, policies and procedures e.g. Health and Safety, Food Hygiene, Data Protection and Safeguarding.

Thinks things through well in advance and maps out future activities, taking the key stages and requirements into account. Likes to monitor to ensure that things are implemented and delivered effectively.

Written and Oral Communication
Talks readily and confidently to groups and individuals. Often playing a leading and influential role in debate and discussion. Writes in a clear and concise manner using appropriate style and language for the reader.

Flexibility
Is open-minded to, and enthusiastic about, new experiences and challenges. Adapts to the requirements of others and usually tries to accommodate their agenda.

Salary of £13.49 per hour (FTE £24,552 per annum)
26 days’ holiday (pro rata) plus paid statutory Bank Holidays (pro rata)
Up to 2 days paid volunteer leave a year, through our employer supported volunteer scheme
