About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Maintenance Operative to join our growing operations and maintenance team.
This is a varied and hands-on role involving the maintenance, preparation and improvement of our self-storage sites and equipment across North Wales, the North West, Shropshire and the Midlands.
The role includes preparing steel shipping containers for hire, supporting the setup and development of new sites, carrying out general maintenance works and helping ensure all sites remain safe, clean and presented to a high standard for customers.
This role would suit someone practical, hardworking and self-motivated who enjoys varied work, travelling between sites and being part of a growing operational business.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain steel shipping containers for customer hire
- Insulate the internal roofs of containers using polyurethane spray foam
- Number storage units
- Spray-paint storage units where required
- Support the setup and development of new storage sites
- Carry out general grounds maintenance and landscaping works
- Assist with site clearances and improvement projects
- Ensure sites are maintained to a high operational and visual standard
- Carry out general maintenance and repair tasks across company sites
- Travel regularly between company sites
- Use handheld devices and technology to manage and complete work orders
- Support operational teams with maintenance-related requirements where needed
- Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and professionally
Requirements – Essential
- Minimum 5 years’ experience within a general maintenance, operational or hands-on role
- Full UK driving licence with a minimum of 2 years driving experience
- Clean driving record
- Reliable, trustworthy and professional approach to work
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt and think on your feet
- Comfortable multitasking and managing a varied workload
- Practical hands-on approach to work
- Comfortable using technology and handheld devices to manage work orders
- Good understanding of health & safety and safe working practices
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and undertaking physically demanding tasks
- Flexible approach to travel, overtime and occasional out-of-hours works when required
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within maintenance, construction, groundworks, fencing, container repairs or site development works
- Experience working with shipping containers or steel structures
- Experience in groundwork, landscaping or site setup
- Experience using maintenance equipment and power tools
- Experience operating plant and machinery such as excavators, dumpers or rollers
- Relevant plant tickets/certifications (CPCS or equivalent) advantageous
- Basic civils and drainage installation experience beneficial
- Experience working across multiple operational sites and managing workloads independently
- Practical problem-solving skills and ability to work proactively with minimal supervision
- Towing experience advantageous
