Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cafe Assistant (over 18’s only) to join our team at a small cafe in Mawnan Smith. Hours are flexible with shifts between the hours of 8:30-4pm Monday- Saturday up to a maximum of 12 hours per week.

This is a temporary position.

You must be able to get here reliably as the buses are not always regular.

The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing excellent customer service while assisting with food preparation and beverage service. The Cafe Assistant will ensure that all food safety standards are upheld and contribute to creating a welcoming atmosphere for our customers.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve food and beverages in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the café area, including tables, counters, and equipment.
Assist customers with their orders, providing recommendations when necessary.
Operate coffee machines and other equipment, ensuring proper functionality and cleanliness.
Handle cash transactions accurately, employing basic math skills for register operations.
Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient service during busy periods.
Monitor stock levels of food and supplies, reporting any shortages to management.
Uphold high standards of food safety and hygiene at all times.

Experience

Previous experience in a café or restaurant environment is preferred, particularly as a barista or in food preparation roles.
Knowledge of food safety practices is essential to maintain a safe working environment.
Strong time management skills to efficiently handle multiple tasks during peak hours.
