Summary of duties:
- To organise and provide laundry cleaning services within in accordance with agreed standards, legislative requirements, relevant regulations and in line with accepted best practices.
Specific duties:
- Laundry Processing: Wash, dry, and fold residents’ clothing, bedding, and towels in accordance with care home procedures.
- Clothing Identification: Ensure residents’ clothing and personal items are correctly labelled and returned to the appropriate rooms.
- Infection Control: Follow infection prevention and control procedures when handling soiled or contaminated laundry.
- Laundry Equipment Operation: Safely operate washing machines, dryers, and other laundry equipment, reporting any faults or maintenance issues.
- Sorting and Handling Laundry: Sort laundry according to fabric type, colour, and washing requirements to prevent damage or contamination.
- Linen Management: Maintain an adequate supply of clean bedding, towels, and linens for residents and staff use.
- Laundry Room Cleanliness: Keep the laundry area clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety standards.
- Stock Monitoring: Monitor laundry supplies such as detergents and report when additional supplies are needed.
- Waste Disposal: Safely dispose of damaged or unusable linen in line with care home policies.
