Full job description

Legal Cashier / Accounts Assistant

The Dental Law Partnership are a nationwide dental claim specialists, representing patients in the majority of the dental negligence claims brought in England and Wales today. As a Legal 500 recommended firm, we are market leaders in our field with 25 years experience.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our well-established Accounts team as a Legal Cashier.

The role will involve joining our established accounts team. Full training will be provided.

As a legal cashier your day-to-day duties will include:

Record and keep up to date ledger transactions pertaining to office side.
Prepare schedule of BACS payments with relevant authorisations and upload the same to Bankline.
Input and payment of disbursements.
Reconcile all bank statements relating to office and client accounts weekly and at the end of each month.
Reconcile credit card statements at the end of each month.
Reconcile and maintain petty cash on monthly basis.
Liaise with Accounts Manager in respect of monthly management accounts and end of year accounts.
Provide assistance in relation to processing monies received into client account, ensuring the SRA accounts rules are followed.
Any other duties as may be directed.

Personal Specification

Previous experience working as a legal cashier or in an accounting environment preferred.
Ability to maintain good communications, with an ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to work under pressure.
Ability to work as a team member and work independently.
Computer literate and knowledge of software applications and online banking.
Enthusiastic and willing to learn new skills.
Organised and methodical.
A minimum of level 4/C grade in English and Maths at GCSE.

We offer:

Starting salary of £24,000 to £26,000 depending on experience.
35 hour working week.
31 days holiday a year including bank holidays and Christmas closure, with the option to buy an additional 5 days holiday per year. We also provide a long service award meaning your holiday entitlement including bank holidays and Christmas closure would increase incrementally each year to 36 days after 5 full years service, and to 41 days a year after 10 full years.
