Job Summary:

A position has arisen for a qualified Vehicle Technician here at Corner House Garage, a large independent village garage situated in Broughton Astley, Leicester. With 35 years established trading, we strive to deliver exceptional service to our customers and continue to meet high standards of professionalism throughout all departments in the business.

We are looking for a Vehicle Technician to deliver high-quality vehicle servicing, MOT preparation, diagnostics, and repair work that ensures all vehicles are safe, roadworthy, and prepared to retail standards. The role supports the dealership’s operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and compliance by maintaining consistent workmanship, accuracy, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

Complete all assigned work efficiently and to a high standard, contributing to workshop productivity targets and minimising vehicle downtime.
Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs that ensure vehicles meet safety, legal, and retail quality standards prior to sale or handover.
Diagnose vehicle faults accurately using appropriate tools and methods, enabling timely and cost-effective repairs.
Perform MOT testing and/or carry out MOT-related repairs, ensuring vehicles meet DVSA standards and pass first time where possible.
Deliver high-quality mechanical work across a range of repairs, including but not limited to:

o Cambelt replacements completed within manufacturer guidelines and timeframes

o Clutch replacements carried out to ensure optimal vehicle performance

o Engine diagnostics and repairs that resolve faults effectively and prevent repeat issues

Identify and communicate additional repair or maintenance requirements clearly to the Service Manager, supporting upsell opportunities and customer transparency.
Maintain accurate and complete job records, ensuring all work is documented in line with internal processes and audit requirements.
Work collaboratively with the Service Manager and wider team to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines, and maintain smooth workshop operations.
Handle customer and vehicle data in line with GDPR requirements, ensuring confidentiality and data security at all times.
Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organised, and serviceable condition, supporting efficiency and safety.
Consistently wear and maintain PPE in accordance with site requirements.
Undertake out additional duties appropriate to the role, skills, and level of competence as reasonably requested.
Demonstrate a clear understanding of Health & Safety requirements within a garage environment including emergency procedures and hazard reporting
Ensure full compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Relevant Qualifications or Experience Required:

Level 3 NVQ in maintenance and repair or equivalent
Current MOT license and fully trained in motor vehicle technology
Qualified MOT Tester with up-to-date training
Diagnostic knowledge advantageous
EV/Hybrid experience advantageous
Able to supply own tools

Salary: Cira £35k depending on experience.

Pay: £35,000.00 per year
