We are looking to appoint a reliable and detail-oriented Accounts Payable /Payroll Manager to manage our in-house payroll function, and be involved in other areas of finance, it is envisaged a 50:50 split in responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
· Administer end-to-end in-house payroll on a monthly basis
· Process starters, leavers, salary changes, overtime, bonuses, and deductions
· Ensure payroll complies with HMRC regulations, including PAYE, NI, and pension contributions
· Manage pension auto-enrolment, contributions, and reporting
· Maintain accurate employee payroll records and documentation
· Handle payroll queries from employees in a confidential and professional manner
· Prepare payroll reports for management and finance
· Liaise with external bodies such as HMRC, pension providers, and auditors when required
· Support year-end processes, including P60s and P11Ds (if applicable)
Accounting Support:
· Bank, foreign currency, Invoice factoring & Cash management & forecasting
· Financial Accounting – includes reconciliations, variance explanations, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, R&D capitalisation etc
· VAT returns, and reconciliations
· Accounts Payable supervising
· ERP and finance related systems
· Ad hoc projects and duties
· Supervise the Finance Assistant and Accounts Payable person.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Proven experience managing payroll as a primary responsibility, ideally within a medium to large organisation.
- Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
- Experience overseeing or supporting Accounts Payable functions.
- Solid financial accounting knowledge, including VAT and balance sheet controls.
- Experience working with payroll systems, ERP platforms, and finance software.
- Strong people management skills, with experience supervising and developing team members.
- Highly organised, detail‑oriented, and confident working with deadlines.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
This role is office based ,Monday to Friday 8:30-5:30.

Pay: £35,000.00 per year
