Full job description

We have an exciting new opportunity available, we are looking for someone that loves people and animals to provide the best service to our St James Clients, the role is mainly based at our Neath practice but will require some flexibility to attend our other branches on occasions.

The duties of the role include:

· general reception duties and maintain computerised client records in accordance with practice policy.

· To register new clients or animals on the computer and record all relevant details.

· To answer telephone enquiries and re-direct those of a technical nature to an appropriate member of staff.

· To file consent forms, laboratory reports and other practice paperwork as necessary.

· To ensure that the waiting room is clean, tidy and welcoming to clients at all times.

· To process payments (in person and over the phone) and record them on the client account and in the cash book.

· To cash up and do an ‘end of day’ analysis at the end of surgery, ensuring that all accounts balance. Any discrepancies must be explained at the earliest opportunity to the Accounts Manager.

· To promote a good image of the practice by maintaining a good standard of work, personal appearance and communication with members of the public and colleagues

· This job description reflects the current duties allocated to the appointment. These duties may need to be altered in the future to reflect changing circumstances and requirements.

Knowledge and Skills Required

Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing with clients and other staff.

Excellent telephone manner.

Ability to deal with upset or distressed clients in a sympathetic and courteous manner.

Basic computer literacy.

A sound knowledge of practice policies and protocols.

Honesty and reliability.

Working hours/shift pattern:

We are looking for a part time receptionists working 25.5 hours per week, 8.30 - 18.30 Tuesday, 13.00 - 18.30 Wednesday, and 8.30 - 14.00 Thursday and Friday.

Weekend rota - 1 in 5 Saturdays including bank holidays which will be in our Parkway branch in Sketty.

There may be times when we need cover for holidays and absence, some flexibility is required
