You'll support the work of East District's Wildlife Ranger team delivering forest protection and habitat conservation objectives.

This post may require travel throughout the district but the successful applicant will primarily be based at our Santon Downham office, IP27 0TJ.

Job description

Key responsibilities & accountabilities

Act as Santon Downham deer larder building manager
Facilitate the delivery of carcasses to the highest standard in line with BQWVS
Assist with logistics around the implementation of collaborative culling, team shooting, night shooting and other large-scale culling events
Undertake mammal damage, impact surveys and spot checks
Assist with the implementation of research projects
Basic maintenance of zeroing areas
Assist with skills testing
Support the wildlife team during collaborative culling, night and out of season culling events
And any other tasks, reasonably requested by your line manager

Person specification

Skills, knowledge & experience

Essential professional and technical experience

Experience of using effective communication skills to convey messages to a variety of audiences in a variety of settings
Competent user of IT including Microsoft Office applications
Experience of working unsociable hours
Experience of working to own initiative and managing working time to achieve optimal outcomes

Desirable professional and technical experience

Experience of wildlife management at night
Building management experience
Experience or food handling industry qualification (carcass handling)

Qualifications

Essential

Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable

DMQ Deer Stalkers Certificates Levels 1 and 2 or industry equivalent
ATV certification
Experience and relevant qualifications in rodent, and wasp control around buildings
