Are you a detail‑driven Cost Accountant who loves getting deep into the numbers that drive operational performance? A rapidly expanding manufacturing business near Pocklington is looking for a commercially aware, hands‑on Cost Accountant to strengthen their finance function and take full ownership of costing, stock, and margin analysis.

The Opportunity
In this newly shaped role, you’ll become the go‑to specialist for all things costing and manufacturing finance. You’ll help the business understand true product profitability, tighten controls, and support smarter operational decisions as they continue to scale.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Producing accurate monthly cost and manufacturing reports, ensuring strong control across stock, WIP and variances.
- Leading the development and maintenance of standard costs, BOMs, labour rates, overhead absorption and material pricing.
- Working closely with Production, Engineering and Procurement to ensure cost data is accurate, up to date and reflected correctly in the ERP system.
- Investigating manufacturing variances, identifying root causes and recommending practical improvements.
- Reviewing stock valuation, ageing and movements, highlighting risks and supporting inventory optimisation.
- Providing commercial insight across product margins, pricing, operational efficiency and working capital.
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting and scenario modelling with clear, actionable analysis.
- Acting as a trusted partner to the Finance Director and operational leaders, bringing clarity, challenge and technical expertise.
About You
You’re someone who thrives in a hands‑on manufacturing environment and enjoys being close to the operational heartbeat of the business.
You will bring:
- Solid experience in a manufacturing finance role with a strong focus on costing.
- Deep understanding of cost accounting principles, variance analysis and inventory management.
- Confidence working independently in a fast‑moving SME.
- Strong systems capability and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent accuracy, organisation and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
- CIMA or ACCA qualification (or equivalent).
