Transport Supervisor

Location: East Midlands Hub, DE74 2TR
Contract: Permanent

Shift: Mon-Fri - 21:00-06:00

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Transport Supervisor to join our Network Operations team. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised leader who is passionate about operational excellence, people development, and delivering outstanding customer service.

About the Role

As a Transport Supervisor, you will play a key role in supporting the Transport Management team and leading a team of drivers to deliver a safe, compliant, and high-performing operation. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of transport activities, ensuring service, quality, productivity, compliance, and cost targets are consistently achieved.

This role is ideal for a driven people manager who thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment and enjoys motivating teams to achieve exceptional results.

What You'll Be Doing

Leading and motivating a team of drivers to deliver operational excellence.
Ensuring transport operations meet service, quality, productivity, and cost performance targets.
Managing resources effectively to meet operational requirements.
Monitoring and improving operational performance through KPI management.
Ensuring compliance with transport legislation, tachograph regulations, security requirements, and Health & Safety standards.
Conducting regular coaching sessions, performance reviews, and development conversations with team members.
Supporting employee engagement initiatives and creating a positive, high-performing team culture.
Monitoring operational costs, including overtime, subcontracting, fleet maintenance, and supplier expenditure.
Providing leadership support and operational cover for the Transport Operations Manager when required.
Driving continuous improvement initiatives across the transport function.

What We're Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience

Strong leadership and people management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Strong organisational, planning, and decision-making skills.
Good analytical and commercial awareness.
Ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and operational systems.
Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Desirable

Knowledge of UK transport operations and logistics environments.
Understanding of driver hours and Working Time Directive legislation.
Knowledge of CPC and Tachograph regulations.
Experience with transport planning software such as Paragon or similar.
Knowledge of transport planning and telematics systems.

Qualifications

GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Maths and Science.
