Full job description

We are seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and patient-focused Pharmacist to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and accurate dispensing of medicines, providing professional advice and counselling to patients, and ensuring compliance with all legal, professional, and regulatory standards.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care within a professional and supportive environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring safe and effective pharmaceutical services while supporting the day-to-day operation of the pharmacy.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently in accordance with prescribers’ instructions, legal requirements, and professional standards.
Provide expert advice and counselling to patients regarding medication use, dosage instructions, side effects, interactions, and general health matters.
Carry out clinical checks and ensure the safe and appropriate supply of medicines.
Support patients with medicine adherence and provide advice on healthy lifestyle choices where appropriate.
Collaborate with GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimise patient care and treatment outcomes.
Manage stock levels and ensure medicines and pharmacy products are stored correctly and safely.
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in line with data protection and confidentiality requirements.
Ensure compliance with all pharmacy regulations, health and safety procedures, and infection control policies.
Support and supervise pharmacy staff where appropriate, providing guidance and promoting good working practices.
Participate in pharmacy services and clinical initiatives where applicable.
Keep up to date with new medicines, clinical developments, and professional guidance through continuous professional development (CPD).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly and compassionately.
Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Strong problem-solving and clinical decision-making abilities.
Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively under pressure.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
High level of professionalism and commitment to patient care.
Competent IT skills, including experience with pharmacy systems and clinical software.
Strong understanding of confidentiality and ethical practice requirements.

Qualifications

Essential:

Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) degree or equivalent recognised qualification.
Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
Completion of Foundation/Pre-registration training requirements.

Desirable:

Additional qualifications or accreditations relating to clinical services or specialist pharmacy areas.
Independent Prescriber qualification (if applicable).

Experience Requirements

Essential:

Experience working as a registered Pharmacist.
Experience dispensing and clinically checking prescriptions in accordance with legal and professional standards.
Experience using pharmacy management systems and pharmaceutical software.

Desirable:

Experience within community pharmacy or hospital pharmacy settings.
Knowledge of NHS pharmacy services and patient care pathways.
Experience delivering pharmacy services such as medication reviews, vaccinations, or clinical consultations.
