Technical Writer Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C
As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the CWA Wide Section.
What will you do?
We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to work with subject matter experts (SMEs) to capture, document, and maintain clear and accurate procedures, management plans, and related business documents.
The Technical Writer will work with subject matter experts (SMEs) to capture, document, and maintain clear and accurate procedures, management plans, and related business documents. The role will also involve reformatting and editing existing materials to improve consistency, readability, and presentation, while ensuring all documents follow agreed templates, standards, and version control processes. A key part of the role will be to review information, identify gaps or inconsistencies, and help shape content into a usable format for the intended audience. This position requires effective communication, diligence, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams to produce high-quality documentation that supports operational needs.
What are we looking for?
Proven experience in technical or business writing, with a strong background in supporting SMEs to produce and improve formal documentation. Experience editing and reformatting existing material to a professional standard, with exposure to procedural documentation, operating manuals, and management plan development.
Essential
- Strong written English, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Experience of writing, reworking, or maintaining procedures, guidance documents, or business documentation.
- Ability to translate technical or operational information into clear, concise, user-friendly content.
- Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to document organisation.
- Confident working with SMEs and stakeholders to gather and validate information.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Word and document formatting tools, with the ability to work to templates and standards.
- Able to manage multiple tasks and priorities independently.
Desirable
- Experience supporting management plans, business processes, governance documentation, or operational manuals.
- Familiarity with document control systems, content management systems, or shared document repositories.
- Experience working in regulated, operational, or project-based environments.
- Basic understanding of process mapping, version control, and document lifecycle management.
