We're looking for a Vehicle Technician / Mechanic who wants to take ownership of a workshop operation, develop their skills, improve their diagnostic ability and build a long-term career within a growing independent used car dealership.
This is an opportunity to gain genuine responsibility, learn how a workshop operates, and develop both technically and professionally.
We're not looking for somebody who already knows everything. We're looking for somebody with potential.

About The Workshop
Independent used car dealership with 25-40 vehicles in stock and an established workshop facility.
Resources include:
- Autel MK908 Pro II professional diagnostic platform
- AutoData technical information system
- Modern AI-assisted diagnostic and fault-finding tools (including ChatGPT)
- Technical forums and industry resources
- Two vehicle lifts
- Tyre fitting and wheel balancing equipment
- Heated workshop
We prepare and repair a wide range of vehicles including Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen Group, Volvo, Jaguar Land Rover, BMW, Audi and other mainstream and prestige brands.
The Role
- Vehicle inspections and health checks
- Servicing and routine maintenance
- Brakes, suspension and general repairs
- Vehicle diagnostics and fault finding
- MOT preparation and pre-MOT inspections
- Vehicle preparation for retail sale
- Workshop organisation and cleanliness
- Parts ordering and repair planning
- Managing your own workload and priorities
You'll have genuine autonomy, but the business owner will always be available to help with diagnostics, planning jobs, difficult repairs, commercial decisions and technical problem solving.
Training & Development
Annual training and development budget of up to £3,000 per year.
Examples include:
- IMI Hybrid & Electric Vehicle Qualifications
- IMI Air Conditioning Certification
- MOT Tester Qualification
- Advanced Diagnostics
- Oscilloscope Training
- CAN Bus Diagnostics
- ADAS Awareness & Calibration
- Manufacturer Training Courses
We also fund up to 2.5 hours per week of mentoring support from a mentor of your choosing.
Salary & Benefits
Realistic OTE: £35,000 - £45,000+
Basic Salary: £26,000 - £34,000 depending on experience
Performance Bonus: Up to £5,000 per year, assessed and paid monthly.
Private Work Share:
- 12% share of labour income from private servicing and repair work brought through the business
- Potential additional earnings of £3,000+ per year
Annual Profit Share:
Employees participate in the company's annual profit share scheme.

What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Workshop experience gained through apprenticeship and/or previous employment
- Confident carrying out servicing, brakes, suspension and general repairs
- Good diagnostic mindset
- Organised and self-motivated
- Able to work independently
Desirable:
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3
- Experience using AutoData
- Experience using diagnostic equipment
- Experience using ChatGPT or AI-assisted diagnostic tools
