About the Role
We’re looking for a motivated and reliable Junior Mechanical Technician / Fitter to join our growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone early in their engineering career to gain hands-on experience in mechanical assembly, maintenance, and repair within a busy and supportive environment.
You’ll work alongside experienced technicians, contributing to the installation, servicing, and maintenance of maritime vessels and mechanical systems, while developing valuable skills and progressing your career.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the assembly, installation, and maintenance of mechanical equipment
- Support fitting, dismantling, and repair activities under supervision
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Carry out preventative maintenance tasks to minimise downtime
- Read and interpret basic engineering drawings and instructions
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
- Follow all health & safety and environmental procedures
- Collaborate with colleagues across teams to support operational requirements
About YouEssential
- Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in engineering
- Strong practical problem-solving skills
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely
- High attention to detail
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Eagerness to learn and develop new skills
Desirable (but not essential)
- Engineering qualification, apprenticeship, or vocational training
- Previous experience in a workshop, manufacturing, or maintenance environment
- Basic understanding of engineering drawings
- Exposure to mechanical or marine systems (e.g. fuel systems, raw water systems)
