We are currently seeking a Yard Labourer to join our team. The successful candidate will support the efficient and safe operation of our yard facility, working closely with colleagues to sort and grade railway sleepers/materials and carry out general yard duties.
Responsibilities:
- Sorting, inspecting, and grading railway materials to required standards
- Working as part of a team to maintain an organised, clean, and safe yard environment
- Loading and unloading materials
- Operating yard machinery, including forklifts and front-wheel loaders
- Using a cross-cut saw (where certified)
- Following all health and safety regulations and ensuring safe working practices
- Supporting colleagues with various tasks to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar yard, labouring, or timber-handling role is advantageous
- Valid Front Wheel Loader and Forklift certificates (desirable)
- Certificate to operate a Cross-Cut Saw (desirable)
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to communicate effectively
- Good attention to detail, especially when sorting and grading materials
- Physically fit, with the ability to lift heavy objects
- Understanding of yard or industrial health and safety practices
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
