Are you passionate about delivering value for money and driving excellence in capital projects? We’re looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join our Capital Transformation Team and play a key role in shaping the built environment for our residents.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of a forward-thinking council, where you’ll provide expert cost planning and commercial management across a diverse portfolio of projects – from major capital projects to essential maintenance programmes.

About the Role

As a Quantity Surveyor within the Transformation Service, you will play a vital role in providing quantity surveying and cost management services for the design and construction of a variety of capital projects. Your key responsibilities will include:

Lead cost planning and forecasting for capital projects, ensuring budgets are accurate and risks are managed.
Use digital tools and data-driven insights to improve efficiency and transparency.
Collaborate with project managers, designers, and external partners to deliver sustainable, high-quality outcomes.
Drive value engineering and innovative solutions to maximise impact for our community.
Be part of a team that’s transforming the way we deliver public services.
Work on projects that make a real difference to local communities.

About You

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within a local authority or public sector environment.
In-depth knowledge of quantity surveying principles, practices, and procedures.
Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
Strong analytical and numerical skills, with excellent attention to detail.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with a range of stakeholders.
Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. RICS) is desirable but not essential.
