About the role
We are seeking an experienced Sales Person to be part of our expanding sales team and business. Supported by our dedicated sales researcher and appointment maker, and also our dedicated marketing specialist this role is for someone who genuinely cares about our clients, is able to diagnose their needs, and complete successful sales.
You will be goal-orientated, passionate about consultative selling, and dedicated to providing excellent customer service.
To interact with the support infrastructure this role is based in the office in Newbury, unless out visiting clients.

Responsibilities
- Inspire and identify client requirements to generate sales that align with the Sales Strategy.
- Business development activities, such as contacting and meeting with cold/warm potential clients and related parties.
- Earning genuine trust and creating, building and maintaining honest relationships.
- Capturing a thorough understanding of the people involved in each potential sale, including their needs, priorities, and wins.
- Visiting clients, related parties and their sites for consultative meetings and surveys as required.
- Diagnosing and resolving the product and/or service requirements that will meet our clients and related parties needs.
- Working closely with our technical team to ensure all solutions meet the highest safety, environmental and performance standards.
- Creating professional proposals that demonstrate our understanding and our proposed solution.
- Following up on proposals, negotiating and closing the sale to get a robust order/contract.
- Managing the handover of orders/contracts for order processing/management.
- When requested, support the order management team with order/project delivery, attending design reviews, and resolving client issues.
- Ensure the clients who you have responsibility for are contacted regularly and all potential orders identified and worked on.
- Ensure potential orders you have responsibility for are progressed effective, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
- Maintain a conversion ratio 80% , and meet agreed sales targets.
- Ensure the CobalCRM system is maintained ,and the sales process is understood and followed.
- Support the overall Cobal Business Plan and Sales Strategy : working honestly and professionally, and also participating in staff events, business improvement initiatives, further training, client visits and supply chain meetings where appropriate.
Experience & skills
- Experience in a sales consultancy role in B2B environment.
- Methodical, organised and process-oriented with strong time management skills.
- Must be a proactive thinker with the ability to identify opportunities and develop ideas to deliver improvements.
- Ability to interpret design and engineering drawings.
- Ability to recognise and resolve practical considerations.
- ‘Can do’ attitude; proactive and willing to take ownership of tasks and projects.
- Advocate for the use of CRM software and suitable experience.
- High level of accuracy and excellent attention to detail.
- Similar industry experience (selling signage, bespoke items/services, production, manufacturing, design agency, fabrication).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills to develop good internal and external business relationships.
- Strong Microsoft office and computer skills.
