We at Go North East are the North East’s largest bus company and for over a century have been transporting people across the region. Overall, we have nearly 1500 employees and operate a fleet of over 500 vehicles.

The Role

We are looking for an Operations Manager to join our team at Gateshead, who will play a key role in keeping our depot operational. Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day depot activities at their site.

Key Accountabilities

Play a key role in contributing towards achieving your depots operations KPIs.
Responsible for the daily management of operations supervisors and drivers.
Ensure that all service requirements are proactively managed daily to ensure appropriate driver availability, limited lost mileage and increased bus availability.
Manage an efficient and reliable daily bus service ensuring that each day full service is achieved in accordance with the daily operating schedule.
Manage driver scheduling including holiday allocation, issue of uniforms and equipment, monitor shorts and overs.
Ensure adequate training, information, instruction, and supervision are provided as appropriate to ensure work activities are carried out safely.
Identify training needs of all reports and liaise with the Head of People to ensure appropriate solutions are in place.

Person Specification

Experience of leading, managing, motivating and developing high performing teams (100+ team members)
Demonstrable experience in creating a safe and continuously improving working environment - IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent safety management accreditation (or willing to work towards).
Well-developed organisational, negotiating, decision- making, analytical and leadership skills.
Excellent analytical and numerical skills
A flexible and proactive approach to work
A Full UK Car licence is required
Full PCV licence or willing to work towards one
